Ezbekiya - Ezbekiya

Japanese: エズベキーヤ - えずべきーや
Ezbekiya - Ezbekiya

...Khan al-Khalili, now a tourist spot and souvenir market, was built by the Circassian emir Hariri, who destroyed a Fatimid cemetery, and the majority of the historical buildings remaining in the old city today are from the Mamluk period. The area around Ezbekiya, which is now a park and square in the city center, was once a pond and marshland, but after an Uzbek emir developed it, noble houses and villas were built, and the area was named after him. Around 1348, after Sultan Nasir (reigned 1293-94, 1299-1341), who was at the height of the Mamluk dynasty's power, the Black Death, which spread throughout the Western world, also hit Cairo, causing a sharp decline in the population, and Cairo began to decline thereafter.
