A Rinzai sect monk in the early Edo period. His Buddhist name was Eitaku. His posthumous imperial name was Butsuchi Kosai Zenshi and Daibo Shogen Kokushi. He became a monk at the age of 17 under Unpo Gensho, and later travelled to Nagasaki where he attained enlightenment under Dosha Zenshi, after which he travelled around various places. In 1654 ( the third year of the Shoo era) he debated Confucianism and Buddhism with Kumazawa Banzan at Sanyu-ji Temple in Bizen Province (Okayama Prefecture), and is said to have persuaded him. In 1659 ( the second year of the Manji era ), he founded Ryumon-ji Temple in his hometown of Hamada in Harima Province (Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture), and in 1672 ( the twelfth year of the Kanbun era ), he entered Myoshin-ji Temple by imperial order. 江戸前期の臨済宗の僧。法名永琢。勅諡は仏智弘済禅師・大法正眼国師。一七歳のとき雲甫元祥について出家し、のち長崎に赴き道者禅師のもとで大悟し、以後各地を遊歴した。熊沢蕃山と承応三年(一六五四)備前国(岡山県)の三友寺で儒仏論争を行ない、これを説得したという。万治二年(一六五九)郷里の播磨国浜田(兵庫県姫路市)に龍門寺を開き、寛文一二年(一六七二)勅命で妙心寺にはいった。仮名法語二巻がある。元和八~元祿六年(一六二二‐九三)
