In 1977, when TV was dominated by pop music, Korean singer Lee Sung-ae appeared on the Japanese music market with "Kasumapge" (lyrics by Jeong Du-soo and Shin Dong-un, music by Park Jin-seok), sparking a Korean boom, while also singing Japanese enka with a unique feeling, bringing enka back to the fore. Enka has many musical similarities with the Korean folk song pansori, and it is said that enka originated in Korea.
