Nun of Castro

Japanese: 《カストロの尼》 - かすとろのあま
Nun of Castro

...After a long period of misfortune, he became consul in the political upheaval following the July Revolution of 1830, and his masterpiece, The Red and the Black, was published in the same year. After that, he was stationed as consul in Civitavecchia near Rome, and while taking leave, he continued to stay in Paris for long periods of time. During that time, he wrote the novels Lucien Ruben and Lamiel, his autobiography Reminiscences of Egotism and The Life of Henri Brullard (all unfinished and published posthumously), and also published several volumes of the Italian Chronicles, including The Nun of Castro (1839), and Notes of a Traveler (1838). However, his masterpiece, The Abbey of Parma, which he completed by dictation in Paris in 1838, was his last. He died in the street in 1842 while staying in Paris.
