Indoor heating appliances that use city gas or propane gas as their heat source. There are open-type appliances that release exhaust gas indoors, and closed-type appliances that release exhaust gas outdoors through a chimney. The former are convenient because they can be moved freely, but they pollute the indoor air. When used in an airtight room in particular, there is a lack of oxygen in the room, which leads to incomplete combustion and gas poisoning. The latter are fixed indoors and cannot be moved, but there is no risk of air pollution and they are hygienic. Recently, clean heaters that use a blower to draw in outdoor air and release exhaust gas outdoors have become more common.

都市ガスまたはプロパンガスを熱源とする室内暖房器具。燃焼廃ガスが室内に放出される開放型器具と，燃焼廃ガスを煙突によって屋外に放出する密閉型器具とがある。前者は自由に移動できるので便利だが，室内の空気がよごれる。特に気密な部屋で使用すると，室内の酸素が不足して不完全燃焼となり，ガス中毒の原因となる。後者は室内に固定され移動はできないが，空気汚染のおそれがなく衛生的である。最近は，送風機により屋外の空気を吸込み，廃ガスを屋外に放出するクリーンヒーターが多く用いられるようになった。
