Ke Shaobin

Japanese:
Ke Shaobin

A modern Chinese scholar. Famous for being the author of the New Yuan History. His pen name was Fengsun. He was from Jiao County, Shandong Province. He was a scholar of the Qing Dynasty. During the Qing Dynasty, he served as the Imperial Superintendent, the Right Councilor of the Faculty, and the Director of the University of the Capital, and was already well known as a scholar. After the establishment of the Republic of China in 1912, he did not take up a government position, but instead became a lecturer and taught Puyi (the former Xuantong Emperor). At the same time, in order to make up for the shortcomings of the Yuan History, he incorporated the work of various scholars and created a new New Yuan History. In 1919, the then Grand President Xu Shichang ordered that it be included in the official histories, and the New Yuan History has since been counted as one of the "25 histories," which are official histories. In his later years, he served as chairman of the General Committee for Oriental Cultural Projects and president of the Qing History Museum.
