Naoomi Tamura
1858-1934 A pastor from the Meiji period to the early Showa period.
Born on August 9, 1858. Studied at Tsukiji University in Tokyo. Graduated from Tokyo Unity Theological Seminary (now Meiji Gakuin University) in 1879 and became the pastor of Ginza Church. In 1902, he published "The Japanese Bride" in America, which caused controversy in Japan, and he left the Church of Christ in Japan. In 1903, he founded the Japan Sunday School Association and became its president. Died on January 7, 1934, aged 77. Born in Osaka. His works include "A Fifty-Year History of Faith."

安政5年8月9日生まれ。東京の築地大学校でまなぶ。明治12年東京一致神学校(現明治学院大)を卒業,銀座教会牧師となる。25年アメリカで出版した「日本の花嫁」が日本国内で問題となり,日本基督教会をはなれる。39年日本日曜学校協会を設立,会長となった。昭和9年1月7日死去。77歳。大坂出身。著作に「信仰五十年史」など。
