This is the old name of Omama Alluvial Fan, created by the old course of the Watarase River in eastern Gunma Prefecture. There is a legend that the name comes from the "Kasakake" horseback archery of medieval samurai, and that in 1333 (Ganko 3/Shokei 2), when Nitta Yoshisada raised his army, he passed through the Kasakakeno wilderness on his way to Kamakura. The gently sloping land is about 60 to 170 meters above sea level, and the thick gravel layer and low groundwater level made it difficult to get water, making it a barren area. It was developed in 1669 (Kanbun 9) when the magistrate Okanoue Kageyoshi built the Okanobori Weir by drawing water from the Watarase River from Kabucho (now Kiryu City) at the top of the fan. After World War II, the remaining flatland forests were converted into farmland, which is now used for vegetable farming, although the amount of residential land is also increasing.
