〘名〙 肝臓の細胞が破壊され、これにかわって結合組織が増殖するために、肝臓が硬化する疾患。アルコール飲料、栄養の欠陥、寄生虫などが原因となる。経過は緩慢で、食欲不振、悪心、下痢などで始まり、腹水、黄疸、むくみなどの症状が続く。尿量は減り胃腸に鬱血(うっけつ)がおこり、消化作用がそこなわれ、栄養も著しく衰えて、ついには死亡する。肝硬変。
