Kasaishi Shrine

Japanese: 笠石神社 - かさいしじんじゃ

This shrine is located in Otawara City, Tochigi Prefecture. It enshrines Nasu no Ataitei. It was established in 1691 by order of Tokugawa Mitsukuni, with the stone monument of Nasu no Kuni no Miyatsuko (→ Nasu no Kuni no Miyatsuko Monument), which was erected in 700, as the object of worship. The monument is made of granite and has an inscription of 152 characters, 19 characters per line, in eight lines. It is designated as a national treasure. The inscription is included in the Nara Ibun as the "Nasu no Kuni no Miyatsuko Monument." The annual festival is held on March 15th.

栃木県大田原市にある神社。那須直韋提 (なすのあたいいで) をまつる。徳川光圀の命により，文武4 (700) 年に建立された那須国造の直韋提の石碑 (→那須国造碑 ) を神体として元禄4 (1691) 年に設立された。石碑は花崗岩で，19字詰め8行にわたり 152字の銘文が記され，国宝に指定されている。なお，銘文は『奈良遺文』に「那須国造碑」として収載されている。例祭は3月 15日。
