A major German coal company based in the Ruhr coalfield. It is also the holding company for a corporate group of 83 companies. It is also known as the Ruhr Coal Company. Its headquarters are in Essen. It was established in 1968 with the cooperation of the former West German federal government, by merging 19 mining companies in the Ruhr coalfield, which was in a recession at the time. Since 1970, it has expanded its business scale by absorbing many mines and power plants. It currently sells 41.6 million tons of coal per year. ドイツの大手石炭会社で,ルール炭田を基盤とする。また83社に及ぶ企業グループの持株会社でもある。ルール石炭会社ともいう。本社エッセン。1968年,当時不況下にあったルール炭田の鉱山会社19社を合同して,旧西ドイツの連邦政府の協力によって設立された。70年以降,多くの鉱山,発電所を吸収して事業規模を拡大していった。現在は年間4160万tの石炭を販売している。石炭のほか子会社を通じて石炭化学,電力,エンジニアリングサービスなどにも進出。
