...The most famous one is the Tsugaru Mountain Song, originally a song sung by woodcutters while cutting down trees deep in the mountains and letting them float down the rapids and torrents of the mountains. It goes, "Iyaaaideyaanagoyaa 15yaa7gayaa. I'm climbing the mountain, and when I blow the flute, yaaa. All the pines on the peaks sway." It has a beautiful vocal tone with a sad melody in the inverted mode and the unique lily technique of Tsugaru. Since the early Meiji period, it has been sung mainly as a celebratory parlor song. There are also songs sung when cutting down bush clover or cutting down firewood for firewood and charcoal, such as the Autumn Mountain Song in Miyagi Prefecture and the Kakuma Cutting Song (Summer Mountain Song) near Yamagata City.
