This law was established to limit the use of stimulants to medical and academic research and to prevent their abuse. It limits the people who can handle stimulants, prohibits their import, manufacture, transfer, acquisition, possession, and use by others, and stipulates penalties for violations. 覚醒剤の用途を医療・学術研究に限定し、濫用を防止するために定められた法律。覚醒剤を取り扱うことができる者を限定し、それ以外の者による輸入・製造・譲渡・譲受・所持・使用などを禁止し、違反行為に対する罰則を定めている。昭和26年(1951)施行。薬物四法の一つ。
