〘名〙① 主君、親、夫などが殺された時、その家臣、子、妻などが、殺害者を殺して仇を返すこと。敵(かたき)討ち。復讐(ふくしゅう)。意趣討ち。あだがえし。※随筆・鳩巣小説(18C前か)下「赤穂義士仇討の時吉良上野介宅へ押よせ候時」② 一般的に、しかえしをすること。※ガトフ・フセグダア(1928)〈岩藤雪夫〉二「今に見てろ! 今迄いぢめられた仇討をしてやるから。俺達には組合があるんだ」[語誌]「かたきうち」が古く、「かたき」と「あだ」とが混同されるようになって、「かたきうち」の意で「あだうち」の語が使われるようになった。
