An uninterruptible power supply. It is mainly used to ensure stable operation of server machines. It has an internal battery and is a device that can respond to sudden power problems such as blackouts and disconnections. When the commercial 100V power supply is cut off, the connected server can continue to operate using the power stored in the battery. The switchover is done in milliseconds, so the connected server can continue to operate without being affected by the power cut. Also, because the power supply time is limited by the battery capacity, it also has a function that automatically shuts down the server after a certain period of time has passed.

無停電電源装置のこと。主にサーバーマシンを安定稼働させる目的で利用される。内部にバッテリーを持ち、停電や断線といった突然の電源トラブルに対応するための機器。商用の100Vの電源が切れると、バッテリーに蓄電した電力を使って接続したサーバーの動作を継続できる。その切り替えはミリ秒の単位で行われるので、接続されたサーバーは電源遮断の影響を受けずに継続して動作可能。また、バッテリー容量によって電力供給の時間に限界があるため、一定時間が経過すると、サーバーを自動的にシャットダウンするといった機能も搭載している。
