It handles everything from grain, beef, coffee, sugar, cotton, rubber, and oil, and exerts a major influence on global food trade. It also handles financial transactions, food manufacturing, and steel. It is also one of the largest privately held companies. It is the number one grain exporter in the United States and the number two salt trader. It also provides support to food trading company Toshoku, which filed for bankruptcy protection in 1997. Since it is privately held, details are not clear, but it operates in 66 countries around the world, and sales reached $119.4 billion in 2011.
