Aonogahara

Japanese: 青野ヶ原 - あおのがはら
Aonogahara
A plateau stretching between Ono City and Kasai City in the central-southern part of Hyogo Prefecture. It is about 2.5 km east to west, 8 km north to south, and has a highest point of 95 m. The terraces are several dozen meters higher than the bed of the Kakogawa River, which makes water supply poor and has delayed development. Since 1882, it has been a training ground for the former Japanese Army, the US Army, and the Self-Defense Forces, and is currently the site of the Self-Defense Forces' Nike Base.
