Aonogahara

A plateau stretching between Ono City and Kasai City in the central-southern part of Hyogo Prefecture. It is about 2.5 km east to west, 8 km north to south, and has a highest point of 95 m. The terraces are several dozen meters higher than the bed of the Kakogawa River, which makes water supply poor and has delayed development. Since 1882, it has been a training ground for the former Japanese Army, the US Army, and the Self-Defense Forces, and is currently the site of the Self-Defense Forces' Nike Base. 兵庫県中南部，小野市と加西市の間に広がる台地。東西約 2.5km，南北約 8km，最高点 95m。加古川の河床より数十m高い段丘のため水利が悪く開発が遅れた。 1882年以来，旧陸軍，アメリカ軍，自衛隊の演習地となり，現在自衛隊のナイキ基地がある。
