A regional brand of Ishikawa prefecture, Hokuriku-Koshinetsu region. Tea boxes, stacked boxes, tea caddies, tea caddies, incense containers, trays, individual plates, tea saucers, and bowls produced in the Kaga region using maki-e techniques originating from the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture. It began in the early Edo period, during the Kan'ei era (1624-1644), when the third lord of Kaga, Maeda Toshitsune, invited Igarashi Michi from Kyoto to be his instructor. The combination of a gentle and refined imperial style with a strong samurai culture led to the development of a unique lacquer craft. In August 2007, it was registered as a regional collective trademark with the Japan Patent Office. The trademark registration number is 5068224. The owner of the regional collective trademark is the Kanazawa Lacquerware Commerce and Industry Cooperative.
