(illustration) is a plant closely related to the Diplacrum genus, widely distributed in tropical Asia, and occasionally seen in Japan from the Kanto region southward. It is a thin annual plant about 20 cm tall, and is called "kagashira" (mosquito head) because it bears small spikelets shaped like mosquito heads in the leaf axils. ...
