…The Scientists' Peace Issues Roundtable was organized by supporters of the statement "Appeal to all scientists" that met at the auditorium of the Science Council of Japan in Ueno, Tokyo on April 15, 1950. 135 researchers gathered at this meeting at the invitation of Science Council members Takashi Ide, Hiroshi Suekawa, and Senroku Uehara, and 90 researchers from around the country who were unable to attend the meeting also endorsed the statement, which included statements such as "opposition to war," "opposition to the provision of military bases," and "protection of academic and thought freedom." …
