...Urethroscopes and cystoscopes are widely used not only for diagnosis, but also for imaging and surgery, which will be described later. In Japan, laparoscopes are mainly used to diagnose liver diseases, but in Europe they are used as an alternative to exploratory laparotomy and for diagnosing infertility. Choledochoscopes are used to diagnose gallstones and to remove gallstones that could not be removed by surgery.
