A pair of pea-sized accessory reproductive glands located in the urogenital diaphragm below the prostate. The ducts open into the urethra and secrete a weakly alkaline mucus during sexual arousal. They were described by the English anatomist Cowper in 1702. Cooper's glands. Bulbourethral glands.
