A spider of the family Theridiidae in the order Araneae. It is found throughout Japan and neighboring countries. Females are about 4 mm long, with an orange anterior body and a spherical posterior body with white and black dotted spots on an orange background. Males are about 2 mm long and are darker than females. They spread a sheet-like web about 20 cm long horizontally between tree branches 1 to 2 m above the ground, and irregularly spread silk on top of it. Theridi spiders hang leaves on top of this irregular web to use as a residence and birthing chamber, but many young individuals do not hang leaves.
