1887‐1959 Italian poet. At the age of 19, he left his hometown of Tarquinia for Rome, where he worked in various jobs before entering journalism. In 1916, he published his first collection of poems, Prologue. In the same year, together with Bacchelli, Cecchi and others, he founded the magazine Ronda (1923-present). In this magazine, he opposed the irrational and avant-garde literary trends immediately after World War I and the ideological dominance that was mainstream in the influential literary magazine Voce at the time, and advocated a revival of the classics, a refinement of style, and in particular a return to Leopardi, and was regarded as a "neoclassicist."
