1887‐1959
Italian poet. At the age of 19, he left his hometown of Tarquinia for Rome, where he worked in various jobs before entering journalism. In 1916, he published his first collection of poems, Prologue. In the same year, together with Bacchelli, Cecchi and others, he founded the magazine Ronda (1923-present). In this magazine, he opposed the irrational and avant-garde literary trends immediately after World War I and the ideological dominance that was mainstream in the influential literary magazine Voce at the time, and advocated a revival of the classics, a refinement of style, and in particular a return to Leopardi, and was regarded as a "neoclassicist."

イタリアの詩人。19歳のとき生地のタルクイニアからローマに出て，さまざまな職業を経てジャーナリズムの道に入った。1916年処女詩集《プロローグ》を刊行。19年ローマで，バッケリ，チェッキらとともに《ロンダ》誌(‐1923)を創刊。同誌を舞台に，第1次大戦直後の，非合理的･前衛的な文学傾向と，時の有力な文学雑誌《ボーチェ》の主流をなす思想優勢の潮流に反対して，古典の復興，文体の彫琢，とりわけレオパルディヘの回帰を唱え，〈新古典派〉と目された。
