Chiral smectic

...By mixing a small amount of cholesteric liquid crystal with a nematic liquid crystal, it is possible to create a state called chiral nematic with a pitch of several micrometers. Also, by adding chiral atomic groups to the constituent molecules of smectic liquid crystal, it becomes chiral smectic liquid crystal.
[Liquid crystal properties]
If liquid crystal is placed in a container and observed, nematic liquid crystal will exhibit strong light scattering and will appear cloudy, with fluidity comparable to that of diesel.
