In 1619-22 he built the Royal Botanical Garden (Jardin des Plantes), which also housed a research institute for natural sciences and medicine. Many of his anatomical discoveries were compiled in his book, Disquisitions on Anatomy (1628-29). He was called the "Prince of Anatomy," but his stubbornness in not changing his own views was a drawback, and he strongly opposed W.
