A type of organ sensation caused by the contraction of the stomach when it becomes empty (hunger contraction). When food is ingested, the hunger contraction stops and the feeling of hunger disappears. Hunger occurs periodically and causes the animal to eat. The hunger center (or feeding center) is located in the hypothalamus, and when this area is stimulated, the animal shows a strong appetite and eats a lot.
