...In Basra and Baghdad, where the influence of Persian culture had taken on a more secular urban lifestyle, a new style of writing called the Badi' style developed, which was more rhetorically advanced than the previous concise expressions. The person who brought this new style was the blind poet Bashshār ibn Burd (c. 714-784). The person who incorporated the Badi style into the Qasida and perfected it was Muslim ibn al-Walīd (c. 757-c. 823), who came to be known as "the first poet who ruined poetry." *Some of the terminology that mentions "Bashshār b.
