1. One of the alpine events in ski racing. Skiers ski down a steep slope about 200 meters in elevation and 500 meters in length, passing through 50 to 80 gates, and compete for the time it takes to complete the process. Slalom. 2. A type of snowboarding event. As in 1 , it is a competition to see who can slide down the slope the fastest. The course has an elevation difference of 80 to 120 meters, a length of 250 to 450 meters, and more than 18 gates set at intervals of 10 to 14 meters. It is called "parallel slalom" because competitors compete one-on-one on two parallel courses. Source: About Shogakukan Digital Daijisen Information | Legend |
