"Revised Map of the Japanese Routes" - Kaisei Nihon Yochiroteizenzu

...The variety of maps he published and the extent of their influence on later generations are rare, even in the Edo period. His major works include the Revised Map of the Routes of Japan (1779), which was a copy of Mori Yukiyasu's map but was the first published map to include latitude and longitude lines; the Great Qing Guangyu Tu (1785), the largest published map of China in the Edo period, which used a Western-style map of China (the Imperial Comprehensive Map) created during the Kangxi period of the Qing dynasty; the Tang Dynasty's Rekidaishugun Enkaku Chizu (Map of the History of China in China) (1790), which was probably the first historical atlas in the Orient to include coloring of mountains, rivers, and borders; Matteo Ricci's egg-shaped world map, the Complete Map of the Mountains and Seas of the Earth, by Matteo Ricci (c. 1788), which was a direct revision of Hara Mei Sadakiyo's map (1720); and the Ezo Matsumae Map (c. 1795), based on maps created by the Edo shogunate's first Ezo survey team in 1785-86 (Tenmei 5-6). Other works include travelogues such as "Nagasaki Gyokaku Nikki" and "To-o Kikou," as well as "Annan Kuni Hyoryuki," a story about the drifting of citizens of the Mito domain.
