A. Comte's major work, published between 1830 and 1842, originally titled Cours de philosophie positive. Volume 1 is an introduction and mathematical philosophy, Volume 2 is astronomical and physical philosophy, Volume 3 is chemical and biological philosophy, Volume 4 is the theoretical part of social philosophy, Volume 5 is the historical part, and the final Volume 6 is the continuation and conclusion. This was a grand attempt based on positivism to establish a systematic science for the entire world by ordering all the abstract sciences from simple to complex, and further basing induction in the more complex sciences on deduction from the simpler sciences.

1830年から42年にかけて刊行されたA.コントの主著で，原名はCours de philosophie positive。第1巻は序論と数理哲学，第2巻は天文哲学と物理哲学，第3巻は化学哲学と生物哲学，第4巻は社会哲学の理論的部分，第5巻はその歴史的部分，そして最後の第6巻はそのつづきと結論から成っている。これは実証主義の立場にもとづいて，抽象的諸科学の全体を単純なものから複雑なものへと配列し，さらにより複雑な科学における帰納をより単純な科学からの演繹によって基礎づけることにより，世界全体についての一つの体系的学問を樹立しようとした壮大な試みであった。
