Coast Guard - Kaijo Keibitai
The maritime self-defense force was established in April 1952 under the jurisdiction of the Japan Coast Guard to protect human life and property at sea and maintain public order. In August of the same year, it came under the jurisdiction of the National Safety Agency and was renamed the "Guard Force." In 1954, the Self-Defense Forces Act came into effect and the Defense Agency was established, becoming the Maritime Self-Defense Force.
