Maritime Charter - Kaijo Kensho

…Also translated as the Navigation Acts. The most important acts were the so-called Cromwell Navigation Act of 1651, the Maritime Charter of 1660, and the Promotion of Trade Act of 1663. The Navigation Act system completed by these acts became the pillar of mercantilist policy. The 1651 Act stipulated that non-European goods imported into Britain and its colonies should be transported on British ships with mostly British crews, and that European products should be imported on British ships or ships of the producing country, aiming to eliminate intermediate trade by Dutch ships.
