(b) Diplomatic asylum: This is the protection given when a persecuted person seeks asylum in a foreign embassy (or a foreign warship or military base) located in the territory of the persecuting country. Not only is the protection of refugees not included in the original function of a foreign embassy (or a warship or military base), but it is also likely to become the cause of international conflict, so this type of asylum right is not generally recognized in international law.
