Kalinite

...It has a specific gravity of 1.97, is highly soluble in water, and is more astringent than alum. Kalinite, a mineral very similar to alum and also called natural alum, is considered to be different from alum because it is fibrous and optically biaxial, and is thought to have the composition KAl(SO 4 ) 2 ・11H 2 O. It is often found as a volcanic sublimate, but can also be formed by the transformation of feldspars due to sulfuric acid produced by the oxidation of pyrite.
