...It is used in the Nichiren sect when chanting the daimoku (called daimoku drums), and is also used in folk performing arts such as Bon Odori. It is also used in Kabuki music, and is often used in Bon Odori and Ise Ondo dance scenes, where it is played together with the Shinobue (bamboo flute) and the Chappa (copper plate). It is also used in murder scenes, as it has a gruesome effect amid the lively atmosphere....
