A general term for Turkic, Mongolian, and Tungusic languages. Altaic. Small dialects of the three languages are scattered throughout Siberia and northern China, but Turkic languages are found mainly in the area from the Republic of Turkey to Central Asia, Mongolian languages are found mainly in Mongolia, around Lake Baikal and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Tungusic languages are found mainly in the Siberian region, from the Yenisei River through the upper reaches of the Lena River to the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk, Primorsky Krai, and Sakhalin (Karafuto). Since the kinship between the three languages has not been proven, they are generally called "languages" rather than "language families." The once-supported theory of the "Ural-Altaic language family" has now been rejected. →Altaic language tribes → Related topics Korean | Khalkha Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
Altaic。
