A volcanic belt that runs roughly north to south over the Hida Mountains (Northern Alps) in central Honshu. It is also called the Ontake Volcanic Belt and is part of the East Japan Volcanic Belt. With Hakuba Oike as its northern end, a series of volcanoes run southward, including Midagahara (Tateyama), Washiba-dake, Yakedake, Norikura-dake, Ontake-san, and Ueno-san (Gifu). However, since this is a small volcanic belt, some scholars believe it would be more appropriate to call it a volcanic chain.
