In the United States, the most advanced music education is offered at almost all universities and colleges. Independent music schools include the Peabody Conservatory (1857, Baltimore), the New England Conservatory (1867, Boston), the Juilliard School (1905, New York), and the Curtis Institute of Music (1924, Philadelphia).
