...It was connected to the construction of communities in Europe, such as Kaiserling's School of Wisdom, the Worpswede artist colony where H. Vogeler and Rilke gathered, and Monte Verita (meaning "Mountain of Truth") where Hesse and Kropotkin took refuge. Ascona, nearby, is also known as the site of the Eranos Conference where Jung and others gathered. It was also connected to the construction of utopias in India, including Tagore and Sri Aurobindo (1872-1950), and all over America. Transcendentalism can be considered a form of such a mystical movement, and the New Village movement led by the Shirakaba group in Japan is not unrelated to the above-mentioned global trend.
