Orgy (English spelling)

Japanese: オルギー(英語表記)orgy
Orgy (English spelling)
The word originates from orgia, which meant a ritual act in ancient Greece. It eventually came to be used to refer to the mysteries of Eleusis and Dionysus, and came to indicate the intense state of excitement and ecstasy of the group, accompanied by wild dancing, drinking, and ecstasy that were characteristic of those rites. It is said that in the state of orgia, believers believed that they could merge with the god of life who dies and resurrects, and share in his power. This phenomenon is not limited to ancient Greece, but is seen widely throughout history. For example, it can be found in the Saturnalia festival in Rome, the ghost dance of American Indians in the late 19th century, the dancing nembutsu of medieval Japan, and the Eejanaika dance of the late Edo period.
