The history of European logic can be divided into four periods: ancient, medieval, early modern, and modern/contemporary. (1) Ancient: Ancient logic began with Aristotle's Organon, written in the 4th century BCE. Organon is a tool for all academic disciplines, and essentially refers to logic.
