Mardawij b. Ziyar (English spelling)

Mardawij bin Ziyar (reigned 927-935), a tribal leader from the Gilan region west of Dayram, overthrew the governor of the Samanid dynasty whom he had served, and seized his territories of Ray, Qazvin, Zanjan, and Qom, gaining independence. During his reign, he was at the height of his power, and also had Isfahan and Hamadan under his control.
