...However, among the Proto-Malays, groups that do not have a specific tribal name are sometimes referred to as Jakun for convenience. The Jakun in this narrow sense have a population of about 9,000 and call themselves Orang Hulu (upstream people), Orang Dalat (inland people), Orang Dalam (deep inland people), etc. They form settlements of about 10 to 30 nuclear families living in independent stilt houses, living relatively far inland, and are mainly engaged in slash-and-burn farming and collecting forest products.
