Tonti, L. (English spelling) TontiL

…the pension system proposed by the Neapolitan-born physician (and banker) Lorenzo Tonti (1630-95) to improve the finances of France during the reign of Louis XIV. It was called the tontine pension after its creator, and was widely used in Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries.
