Yokatsu Peninsula

Japanese: 与勝半島 - よかつはんとう

A peninsula jutting out into the Pacific Ocean on the east coast of central Okinawa Island in Okinawa Prefecture. Part of Uruma City. It divides Kin Bay and Nakagusuku Bay. It is home to the American military base and the naval port of White Beach. The Nakagusuku Bay side has steep cliffs, while the Kin Bay side has gentle slopes, making both areas beautifully scenic. It produces travertine (a type of limestone), a building stone. Facing Nakagusuku Bay, are the ruins of Katsuren Castle (→Katsuren Gusuku), a nationally designated historic site and a registered World Heritage Site.

沖縄県，沖縄島中部東海岸，太平洋に突出した半島。うるま市に属する。金武湾と中城湾を分かつ。アメリカ軍用地，軍港ホワイトビーチがある。中城湾側は急崖で，金武湾側は緩斜面をなし，ともに風光明媚である。建築用石材トラバーチン（石灰岩の一種）を産する。中城湾に面して国指定史跡，および世界遺産の文化遺産に登録されている勝連城跡（→勝連グスク）がある。
