...The play was performed by Zenshinza for three years from 1941, and was also made into a film (first part 1941, second part 1942) by director Kenji Mizoguchi. It is divided into "The Sword At Edo Castle" (2 acts, 3 scenes), "The Second Messenger" (1 act), "The Last Council" (prologue and 6 scenes), "Fushimi Shumoku-cho" (2 acts, 3 scenes), "Mihama Palace Tsunatoyo-kyo" (3 acts, 5 scenes), "The Parting in the Snow on Nanbuzaka" (2 acts, 4 scenes), "The Back Gate of Kira's Mansion" (1 act, 3 scenes), "Sengaku-ji" (4 scenes), "Sengoku Mansion" (2 acts, 4 scenes), and "Oishi's Last Day" (2 acts, 4 scenes). It is a full-length play about the revenge of the Ako Roshi, and is said to be one of the two great masterpieces of Chushingura dramatizations, along with the representative Kabuki work "Kanadehon Chushingura". ...
