A swordsman in the early Edo period. The eldest son of Yagyu Munenori. His name was also Mitsuyoshi or Jubei. He entered the service of Tokugawa Iemitsu as a page in 1619, but retired in 1626 after incurring Iemitsu's wrath. He seems to have studied the Shinkage-ryu school of swordsmanship and taught disciples at a dojo in Yagyu, Yamato. He was the teacher of Araki Mataemon. He returned to the service in 1638. The style that followed Jubei is usually called the Yagyu style. → Related topics Yagyu clan | Yagyu Munefuyu Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
