Sound negative - Otonega

...A completely edited "all-rush" is made from a "rough cut" which is simply a sequence of cuts. Then it is dubbed (adding sound, which includes tasks such as actors recording their voices, and mixing real sounds recorded at the same time, sound effects, and music). After the sound is edited on magnetic cinetape, it is optically transferred to a "sound track negative." The negative (picture negative) and the sound negative, edited to match the all-rush, are then put together and developed in a lab to produce the first print (zero print). Further adjustments such as volume (tone) and color intensity are made to produce the first print to be shown.
