Ota Mine - Oppukozan

The mine was located in Nishimeya Village, Nakatsugaru County, in the southwest of Aomori Prefecture. The deposit is located in the Yunosawa River basin, on the northern foot of Mt. Oda in the Shirakami Mountains. It is said to have been discovered in 807 (Daido 2), and during the Tsugaru clan's administration, copper, silver, lead, etc. were mined under clan management, but after the Meiji period, the mine was repeatedly operated and closed. Since 1952 (Showa 27), modern equipment has been used to produce copper, lead, zinc, and iron sulfide, and at its peak it had about 350 employees, but it closed in 1978 due to the effects of the oil crisis and other factors.

青森県南西部、中津軽(なかつがる)郡西目屋村(にしめやむら)にあった鉱山。白神(しらかみ)山地の尾太岳北麓(ほくろく)、湯ノ沢川の流域に鉱床がある。807年（大同2）の発見といい、津軽藩政期には藩営などで銅、銀、鉛などを採掘したが、明治以降は稼行、休山を繰り返した。1952年（昭和27）からは近代設備により銅、鉛、亜鉛、硫化鉄を産出し、最盛時には従業員約350人を数えたが、オイル・ショックなどの影響で1978年閉山した。
